acquisition and preparation of the site, estimated at

2,036,500 dollars, being borne by Hong Kong revenues.

Before approaching the Treasury, the Council

would be glad to be informed whether Mr. Amery has any

views as to the proportion of the cost which might be borne

by Hong Kong revenues. In considering the question he will

no doubt have regard to the possibility that the aerodrome

may in future be required for civil purposes including the

suggested police air unit.

The Council would also be glad to know whether

Mr. Amery considers that the charge of £4,400 already

incurred in covering nullahs should be defrayed by the

Hong Kong Government.
